Hats. Lots of.

I decided to knit myself a hat (top left) and it came out pretty well - it was also incredibly quick to make. To make it better able to withstand the Wisconsin winter I cunningly attached an old North Face fleece hat to the inside. Now my head is nice and toasty!
Spurred on by this quick and simple idea, I've started making more hats for Xmas gifts! Top right and bottom right are for my work-mates. The bottom left image shows Bailey. Every good craft area has a cat that tries to get in the shot, right?

This makes me happy...

I’d never heard of Steampunk until this year’s Geek.Kon (behind the times much?), when I got to tour their Airship engine room of mystery (ooaaaoo). It was… cool. And now I’m seeing it everywhere, and loving all of it. It reminds me of opening up those random boxes in Myst… all the metal and gears and mysterious purposes. And I saw this and thought… why don’t all houses look like this?

One day I will live in a Buddhist Steampunk shrine with a shishi-odoshi and lots of hidden passages. This would make me happy.

Pleasant Surprise

I was delighted to log onto Craftster and discover that my work has been selected for the "Featured Project" section! Craftster has a very large and active community, so this really means a lot to me. For those of you not familiar with Craftster, please go check them out.

Also I have decided to lower the price of my prints during the run up to my art show at Mother Fools and the holidays. They will now be priced at $9 ($2.50 shipping for US orders) until the end of the artshow.

Art show!

Big news! I have an artshow in December, here in Madison, at Mother Fools coffee house - yay! I'll be displaying my latest collage work and I think it will look really cool in there; the setting really suits the style of my artwork. So I have to get busy - 3 weeks to go....must start churning out the art. I'm not sure of the exact dates yet, probably Dec 1 through to the new year. I'll post again when it's set in stone.

Video Tutorial

This is the first part of my tutorial on creating my collages. It covers drawing and scanning; really quick and simple, but I hope it makes sense. I apologize for the shakiness; I didn’t have a tripod, so I used a husband instead.

I'll also be putting them on my YouTube channel

Woo, video!

Aside from extreme allergies, fall has been pretty nice this year. Today Garry and I took the bus downtown, ate at a local café, and went to the zoo to visit all the aminals. I got to itch a pig, and Garry got pooped on by a bird in the aviary. All-in-all a good day out.

This week I’ve had creativity fever. It’s like I woke up and realized that designing for a bank isn’t all I need to do for the rest of my life. I’ve been drawing, scanning in fabric…. Garry seems to think this is economically viable and started up an Etsy site.

I'm not big on fashion...

...but these are some of the coolest things I have ever seen. The are by Jean Paul Gaultier, someone I'm sure most people have heard of except me. What I wouldn't give for that coat on the left... and the one on the right if I was cosplaying Steampunk. =D Anyway, can't type, cat licking arm.
